A haven for yachts, and a peaceful place for boaties too. I have heard people call Mangonui the most picturesque little village in the world. Well no doubt there are plenty of contenders for THAT description, but Mangonui in Northland, New Zealand sure is a lovely place.

The main street of this fishing village is right up against the seawall, and half the parking is under the pohutukawa trees that line the water’s edge.

The supermarket (on the right of this painting) is in a historic old store built out on piles. As you shop you can glimpse the tide below the cracks between the floorboards.
