Mission Santa Barbara was the tenth of the California missions to be founded by the Spanish Franciscans, in 1786. The church building is simular to those built in the countryside of Mexico in the early 1800's. It is primarity neoclassical in style, utilizing decorative devices and features fron the time of the Roman Empire.
