Peter the Great, resting on a wagon in a part of the park which the real Peter laid out so many years ago. His presence in the Peter Platz beside the Peter Boulevard was a little too much for Esthonian racial pride and sohe was taken down. Now theGermans, the Russians and the Jews come to this old yard and mourn over the fact that poor Peter has no pillow. He may yet be set up in his own parklater, but just now politics and Chauvinism instill official forgetfulness. Legend copied from backof print. Copyright: National Geographic / Maynard Owen Williams
