Irgendwann kommt in jedem Leben eines Künstlers der Moment, in dem er sich entscheiden muss: Möchte ich Kunst machen oder möchte ich Geld verdienen?
Möchte ich ein guter Künstler und ein schlechter Verkäufer sein, oder möchte ich ein guter Verkäufer und ein schlechter Künstler sein?
Die Alternative 50 % Künstler und 50 % Verkäufer würde lediglich einen halben Künstler bedeuten.

Color and the concept contained in the text are the main starting point for my illustrations. I often use collage and other mixed techniques as I develop the character of each stream of work.
I was born and raised in the metropolis of São Paulo, in SE Brazil, and have a degree in Fashion from Universidade Anhembi Morumbi.
In 1996 I moved to Natal, a medium-size state capital in NE Brazil in search of sunshine, sea, wind and colors. Here I’ve lived ever since, with my husband Ricardo Junqueira, a professional photographer, Julia, my 10 year-old daughter, and our dogs Filó and Bruno.
In 2003 I illustrated the cover of Casa Vogue, a major decoration monthly in Brazil, and the first book with my illustrations came out in 2005, the first of a total of 16 children and adult books illustrated by me up to now. My work has also appeared regularly in national newspapers, magazines, commercial ads, calendars, greeting cards and product packages.
Matisse, Miró and Hundertwasser are my most important teachers. The light and the playfulness of the rich Northeastern Brazilian folk traditions are also reflected in my work. See more www.andreaebert.com
