I currently live in Plymouth, but grew up on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, and the sunny seaside of Dorset. From grass to grey my journey has brought me to Plymouth city where I found my work rebelling against my country upbringing and reflecting a growing interest in the grunge and grime of the urban environment. Everything I discover around me has potential... urban detritus, peeling paint and filthy concrete structures. I find the ugly and mundane to be beautiful, its character and stories inspiring. I grew up in Mexico, where football plays a great role in every kid’s life. I’ve had asthma ever since I can remember, and not being able to breathe normally when I was playing, took me away from wanting to become a professional football player, as every kid dreams. I have always enjoyed painting also, and I have always admired realistic painting. I double majored in Architecture and Fine Arts. I’ve had various group and solo show here in Houston, TX. My experience with football drove me to develop my own ideas. I began painting this series as a relief to my frustration, by putting my two passions together: painting and football. I put all my energy and effort into these paintings, as if I was playing a football match. Every stroke is like a step on the field. The result of each of these paintings is a great satisfaction, as if I had won a football match. As football players can remember a goal they scored, I can look at my paintings and feel as if I had scored a goal. I can remember vividly how I did every detail on them, like a replay of a match I played. I have been able to express my passion for this beautiful game through my art.
