„Giant Spider Conch Seashell Lambis truncata“

from the gallery of Frank Wilson
Description:

This stunning square photograph makes for a dramatic designer print especially with a grouping of my other Black & White Seashell images.

This large 14.25 inch specimen was collected from the coral reefs of northern Zanzibar in East Africa in 1966. This is an unusual specimen as it has eight spines instead of the seven that is common for this species. These mollusks are collected and eaten for food by the locals in Zanzibar. The sculptural beauty of this specimen lends itself to a stunning black & white image.
