Climbers ascend the Khumbu Ice Fall of Mount Everest, Nepal, heading toward cam p one, which lies roughly at 17,000-feet in elevation. Universally terrifying, it is the most dangerous part of the southern route on Everest. The constantly shifting Khumbu Icefall is like a bunch of ice cubes continually tumbling down the icy m ountain wall. Copyright: National Geographic / Bobby Model
