The statue of Tibetan Buddhist leader Tsong-kha-pa (b.1367 d.1419) in Ulaan Baatar's Gandan Temple. The Tibetan lama founded the sect called Dge-lugs-pa, literally meaning 'Model of Virtue'. Tsong-kha-pa's successors, with the help of Mongol aid, were eventually (1642) installed as the rulers of Tibet with the title Dalai Lama. (Noboru Komine)
