„Pink Hawthorn Blossom“

from the gallery of Colin Metcalf
Description:

The less common pink Hawthorn blossom. Photographed at Golden Acre Park in Leeds. The commoner white Hawthorn is found in hedgerows all over Britain. The nerdy bit, Crataegus commonly called hawthorn, thornapple, May-tree, whitethorn, or hawberry. The saying "Ne'er cast a cloot til Mey's oot" conveys a warning not to shed any cloots (clothes) before the summer has fully arrived and the may flowers (hawthorn blossoms) are in full bloom. Hawthorn has many references in folklaw.
