The spectacular scenery in the Spiti Valley is a sight to behold. In the foreground, near the river, the land is fertile and green; behind it jagged mountains, beginning to erode into shale, dominate. The inhospitable region is covered in two metres of snow from November to April, leaving the inhabitants of the valley cut off from the world.
