This image shows the amazing diversity of plant life growing on the Indiana sand dunes. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore was authorized by Congress in 1966. The national lakeshore runs for nearly 25 miles along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, in Beverly Shores, Indiana. Large sand dunes, which have taken thousands of years to form, tower nearly 200 feet above Lake Michigan.
