The sculpture incorporates organic found objects in the form of ‘cypress pine’ off-cuts salvaged from the local scrap-yard and extends on the ideas of the previous ‘Sea Change Organic Sculpture’. Presented in a rigid, structured arrangement the work explores the contrast between organic objects formed by natural processes, arranged in a formal composition and presented as a ‘work of art’. The work also challenges the viewer to re-evaluate the inherent beauty of timber exposing the contrast of the natural circular patterns of the timber, each possessing its own unique characteristics, within the man-made square format of each piece which is replicated within the sculptures overall composition. Completed 2011, Found Object Sculpture.
