Michael Dalla Costa

Hello and thank you for taking an interest in my work. I am currently living in Canada but have lived in Japan. My work is mostly ink and paper drawings I do then scan and manipulate but I also work with pictures I have taken. Alot of my images have a symbolism in them but it is not what is the main focus.

About > Activities

An interesting perspective of a sloped hill and level building taken in Prague manipulated and filtered for effect.

I'm not sure where I took this photo...but I remember liking that the vines were growing sideways. I enhanced the greens, drew out the darker colors and filtered for effect.

This started of a macro and I wanted to draw out the pink on the petals and give the graduated tone from red to blue for the background while filtering for overall effect.

This is a B&W variation of the original taken on a hike through an area near Kamakura in Japan. I liked the contrast of the right being full of leaves and growth and the other side having no leaves. I filtered the photo to add more textures and played with the B&W tones.

This was taken on a hike through an area near Kamakura in Japan. I liked the contrast of the right being full of green and the other side having no leaves. I filtered the photo to add more textures and played with the tones for the ranges.

I found this wall on a building in Stony Plain Alberta. It caught my attention due to the newer bricks and I manipulated for the effect and to add more vibrant tones.

This was just a puddle I noticed on a walk. I filtered for the painted effect and manipulated the colors and tones for the finished look.

I like the silhouette from the sun and added the tones, painted effects for a more ghostly effect

I took this pic on a walk near my place. I like the bending stream so filtered the image to draw out the blue, greens, and yellow than added the effects.

I did a macro of the daisies and darkened the image adding the fog and the aged look.

This was a picture of a hibiscus flower taken at a park in Japan which I obviously altered to change the tones and emphasise the shadows.

This was a photo taken in Singapore and I like the duality and two tone looks so I ended up with this at the end.

A simple perspective shot taken in Japan and manipulated.

This picture was heavily manipulated, filtered, and touched up to get the desired effect of light/life bursting from the center.

This was a picture taken of a flower, that I do not know the name of, in a botanical garden in Singapore filtered and toned for the effect.

This was a photo of blooming flowers and heavily manipulated for the final BY&W effect.

This was a macro shot of a flower which I wanted to emphasise the contrast through manipulations and added some glow to give the effect.

This is actually two layers blended and manipulated for the tones and effect which I really liked.

This was a pic of a pine cone, weed, and bramble from the Spring melt in Calgary that I collected and arrange to give the subject and filtered and manipulated.

This is a variation of the previous image taken near Kyoto in a bamboo forest that I didn't want to manipulate/filter too much but wanted to keep the perspective.
