Feature: Melissa Vincent
As promised we’ll be featuring the winners of our ARTFLAKES Instagram Photo Contest on our blog. First up is the lovely and talented Melissa Vincent, who made the third place in our contest with her beautiful Instagram entitled Autumn Walk (see above).
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I live in Mississippi. I have a cell science degree, but spend my days taking care of my two boys. I’m also completely obsessed with mobile photography and editing on my iPhone.
When did you start using Instagram and what is your favorite thing about it?
I joined instagram in April of 2011. Almost immediately, I fell in love with the app. I soon started experiementing with all of the photo editing programs available on my iPhone and a passion for mobile art was born. Instagram has opened many doors for me. I’ve been interviewed by the Huffington Post, had art work hung in Soho, made the cover of the first ever TIME wireless issue, and much more. It also lead me to iphoneart.com which is a wonderful community of iphoneographers who enjoy making art with their mobile devices. I was honored that several of my works were hung at the LA Mobile Arts Festival, the largest mobile arts festival to date and put together by the founders of iphoneart.com.
What’s your philosophy on photography?
My goal as an artist is to paint the South in a magical and positive way through my art. I want to create photos that show Mississippi in a unique way. I hope to make my fellow Mississippians proud and show others from around the world a little something unexpected.
What are your 3 favorite Instagrams in your own Instagram feed?
