Chewing gum art by Maurizio Savini

Usually, when the taste of your chewing gum turns boring, you spit it out (or, taking care of nature, put it in the waste bin) and don’t think about it anymore. This is not the case with Italian born Maurizio Savini: He uses chewing gum to create life sized sculptures of people, dogs or bears.

I guess his teeth and jaw must be quite exercised after chewing all those gum in order to make it smooth so that it can be turned into glittery pink hair or the piece of a nose. However, if you’re now thinking “Who would want to buy sculptures made of used chewing gum?”, I can tell you, that the prices for Savinis’ artworks have risen lately up to 50.000 Euro for one sculpture!
