Ink-Pressings by Robyn Wilson
These ink-pressings by Australian artist Robyn Wilson remind a lot of the Rorschach test psychologists are doing. Looking at them you discover always new details, shapes and elements, e.g. animals, religious symbols, anatomical elements, masks etc. And just when you think you’ve seen everything there is too see, something new pops up. I for one see (in the one above) hearts, a Buddha, a turkey, a peacock, eyes and a red lionfish. Wonder what that says about me. So, what do you see?
Wilson creates these beautiful pressings by applying with eye droppers and syringes black ink on white Arches 100% cotton paper. She then folds and presses the paper together multiple times, between the applications, this way these gorgeous symmetries of abstract shapes and patterns are created. Amazing!
