Colour your life with Lang/Baumann

Have a guess: Are there places in the city you live, that are really beautiful in the common sense? Parts, where not everything is held in this modern – and ugly – grey?

Sabina Lang und Daniel Baumann, working together as L/B, seem to have had similar thoughts. Which is why they now aim to bring colourful spots into urbanity, on bridges, skyscrapers and smoggy crossroads.

I guess, the weather could be really nasty – when you have to cross this bridge painted in bright colours, you simply CANNOT be in a bad mood, isn’t it?

The streetart project

As “the world’s largest art collection” the streetart project, that was created in co-operation with Google Streetview, is described on its website. Does work similar, too, but the focus is – as the name may tell already – on streetart.

You can either search for the city or place you’re looking for directly, or zoom in and out of the virtual map of streetart. There is a filter for artists as well, but not many have been listed yet.

A nice tool for all fans of streetart – even individual city trips can be planned by looking for all those alternative sights…

Search instagram with instac.at

You’re not looking for a certain instagram-user, but for crazy and weird snapshots , that were taken with the iPhone-app?

Looking for a way to do that, we stumbled upon instac.at. Don’t be confused by the dozens of cute cat pictures that pop up on the page when you open it: On the right upper side you can simply put in the keyword you’re looking for (what about “dogs”?), and – voilà – all instagram pictures tagged with the keyword flutter by. Nice!

Get your future told with the Pictarot iPhone App

Reading cards – isn’t this only for older women with a liking for all kinds of esoteric stuff? Nope. ‘Cause now there is Pictarot made by Pictoplasma! Here we have an exceedingly funny iPhone App made with love.

What about my relationship? What about my life? How should I decide? In different reading techniques those profound questions are answered. Well, if you have a sense for interpretation, that is. But then there’s nothing to stop you!

Artwork pick of the week: Underground

Nope, Underground stations in Berlin are not painted in pink or clad in pink light, like you could think when looking at the photograpy  “Underground” by Michael Janello.

But exactly because they are usually dirty, smelly and dazzingly bright lighted, we like the picture taken in Berlin even more. Whoever thinks as we do can find the picture on ARTFLAKES as  framed art print, canvas print or GalleryPrint.

Get to know… XinXii

What is behind the platform with the enigmatic name XinXii? In our series “Get to know…” we asked Dr. Andrea Schober to explain the concept behind the page. This is what she told us:

From now on you can buy art at its best to rescue your walls out of their dismal existence. But what kind of use does this blog exactly have, you might ask yourself? ARTFLAKES is not only a platform where you can buy illustrations or photography – we want you to take part in the hustle and bustle that is called art world. Interviews with artists are on our list as well as information about exciting exhibitions and chosen art works that are sold on ARTFLAKES.
