Theatre of Silhouettes: Wilhelm Staehle
“Wilhelm Staehle is a horribly disfigured Gentleman who often frightens small children when he emerges from the seclusion of his sprawling estate on the Eastern Coast of the Americas”, it says on the Website of said artist, whose wonderful “Silhouette Theatre” we want to introduce you today.
That he stages himself as the scary hunchback living secluded in his studio, makes him appear like he has just come from one of his silhouette cards that depict extracts from well-known fairy tales. Your usual characters like bears, princesses and the maid longing for love are featured of course – but they’re not talking like you would expect them to, do they?
