Today’s Levitation by Natsumi Hayashi
Natsumi Hayashi has taken countless photos of herself in the mid air all over the Japanese capital – on city pavements, in restaurants and deserted fields. The attraction of her floating photos is her natural expression and pose. She makes floating seem like her natural state.
In order to get a the perfect shot, she first gets the composition and the focus manually. She then presses the shutter release, runs to the right position for a levitation as checking the camera’s blinking red LED counts down 10 seconds and jumps. She repeats this till she gets the right shot. Since her camera has a self-timer with only 10 sec., she can only get away as far as 10 second distance from the camera after she presses the shutter release button.
