Shot of a large seated statue of Buddha in Thailand. The hands are positioned in the mudra representing subduing mara, or evil. Gold leaf has been rubbed onto the fingernails of the right hand, to earn merit for the faithful. Devotees have placed flowers in the left hand; these have been left in colour, while the rest of the image is black and white, with a deliberate grainy effect.
