Über dieses Bild:

A child - or children - of a deaf adult, often known by the acronym "CODA", is a hearing person who was raised by one or more deaf parents or guardians. Millie Brother is credited with coining the term upon the founding of the organization CODA, which serves as a resource and a center of community for adult sons and daughters of deaf adults. CODA is an international non-profit organization where many CODAs are bilingual, speaking a language orally and also signing. They are also bicultural, identifying with both deaf and hearing cultures. CODA — Children of Deaf Adults — began in 1983 and has grown to include families of many generations and nationalities.
................................................This painting shows the beginning of the bond between the hearing son or daughter and the deaf adult: the child's hand next to the adult parent's hand, both signing "I LOVE YOU." Love, of course, is the bond, the joining of hearts.
................................................This painting is mixed media - watercolor and acrylic - abstract realism, representing the shape of the "I LOVE YOU" sign in bright and happy colors in a pop, modern, contemporary style. After all, love is timeless.
