Omaha Beach at Villeville-sur-mer, Normandy, France .. Scene of the American operation of D Day 06th June 1944 where 1200 soldiers lost their lives on this beach alone .. In the foreground is the remains of one of the bridge pontoons of the Mulberry harbour that was built to offload tanks & other military vehicles.
