„1960 Desoto Fireflite Coupe Low Side View“

from the gallery of Jon Woodhams
Description:

The DeSoto Fireflite is an automobile which was produced by the DeSoto Division of the Chrysler Corporation in the United States from 1955 to 1960. The Fireflite name ended in 1960, although the few 1961 DeSotos made before the close of production were based on the Fireflite design. The 1960 Fireflite featured yet another new look, drawing closer to Chrysler's design language and featuring even larger tailfins. A new grille gave the car a different front feel, and the distinctive two-tone paint schemes were all but gone. DeSoto was nearing its end in 1960 (a brief run of 1961 models would be the last built) but still fielded some of Chrysler Corporation's most attractive offerings that year. 1960 DeSotos looked a lot like that year's Chryslers--not a bad thing--but declining sales meant just two series were offered, down from three in 1959. Fireflites shared their 122-inch wheelbase with the Chrysler Windsor. Only 3,494 coupes were built.
