Part of a series called "Beautiful Brick", celebrating (mostly) the Amsterdamse school and brick architecture inspired by it (or just preceding it – there’s some beautiful work a little earlier, too), but close up!
You can find this beautiful brickwork all around Amsterdam, but also in other cities, like Groningen.
Here a detail of an (inside) entrance porch (portiek) of a large block along the Witte de Withstraat.
(Note: despite translations you may find, a “porch” or “portico” (portiek) in Dutch housing buildings is generally not attached to the outside of the building, but wholly or mostly inside its exterior walls. In modern buildings often protected from the elements by glass and a door, in older buildings open.)
