Part of my "The joys of waiting for the ferry" collection, shot in Istanbul, October 2011.
Did you think that red-orange paint found on many of these ferry docks along the Golden Horn was bright and vivid? Well, it was, but when we reached Sütlüce even farther up the Golden Horn during our ferry-hopping trip on the Golden Horn line (Haliç Hatt?), we found that same paint literally paled in comparison to these orange plastic crates! Of course the sun (finally out in full force by afternoon) and the blue paint on the steps of the platform helped to bring out the color.
The crates were just sitting there – they look like they might be used by fishermen for their catch but there were no further clues so I cannot be sure.
