„How to paint your wall“

from the gallery of Marjolein Katsma

This image shows some striking characteristics of walls in India: often, almost invariably, the wall is painted after the window or door frames are painted, and some of the wall paint ends up on them; also, paint tends to be very diluted, so nearly every layer has some transparency - especially visible in the blue wall paint and the brown panels of the shutters here. The result is a nice artistic effect, though I am not at all sure that was the intention...

An interesting detail in the lower left corner is the 'hand mark'; I have found many walls in South India with similar hand marks or even whole hand prints on them.
