Mount Rainier from the Puyallup Ridge fire lookout west of the 14,410 ft volcano with a lenticular cloud over the mountain. Also in view in the image are the three peaks that make up the summit: Columbia Crest, Point Success, and Liberty Cap. The large Glacier is the Puyallup Glacier. Pacific Northwest - Washington state, USA. Lenticular Clouds form as high speed moist winds drop in temperature as they rise to cross mountains and ridges, causing these lenticular-shaped clouds forming as the air approaches and dissipating as it crosses to the other side, seeming stationary but actually moving at great speed.
