„Nidhogg and Ratatosk“

from the gallery of Rushelle Kucala

One of my favorite Norse creatures, Nidhogg, the gruesome dragon of Niflheim. In Norse mythology Nidhogg lived at one of the three roots of the cosmic tree Yggdrasil, there he devoured corpses and when he wasn't doing that he would gnaw on the roots of the cosmic tree. He would also send the squirrel Ratatosk to climb up the cosmic tree to harass and insult the eagle and hawk perched at the top of the trees. So here's how I always pictured them, I know Ratatosk is really huge, but I figured he's not a normal squirrel, so he wouldn't be the normal size of one either.
