200pt

We are a design team located in New York City that produces artworks under the name 200pt. The name "Two Hundred Point" has several meanings for us, one of which refers to the scale of type we use when making t-shirts and posters. We also like the connection with hunting culture in the North Eastern U.S, where a 200 point Buck is the standard by which all big game is measured—It is this reconciliation of opposites, along with the combination of high and low—that we seek to explore in our art and design.

This collection of prints is inspired by the randomness and oversaturation of media in our daily lives, which we often choose to expose ourselves to. The finished collection will be about ten different "images" of things we've come across in an hour of surfing Tumblr and various News websites. More to come soon!

This image was inspired by a trip to Bermuda where we sipped "Black & Stormys" (a native Bermuda drink made from Rum and Ginger) on perfect, white sand beaches.

This print series is inspired by the Romantic era of the 1770's as well as it's brief revival in the 1980's.

The Romanticism of the late 18th century was a reaction to the Enlightenment Era, a time when life was approached and understood through scientific study and formulaic deduction. As opposed to the Rationalists of the Enlightenment Era, the Romantics were much more interested in imagination and emotion and were more inspired by the beauty and adventure they found in untamed nature than the mechanical rigor of the industrial revolution. This series of prints seeks to illustrate the struggle between Romanticism and Rationalism while also exploring the harmony that can occur when two diametrically opposed ideas come together.
