This was a commissioned painting from one of my favorite customers of a 1980s Japanese city street. I don't know much more about it other than- it took me forever, and I hope my Japanese characters don't say anything shocking. But most of all- it is one of my favorites, so I thought I'd share.

The Thaw

It is hard to find the beauty of that soggy, cold, muddy place in between winter and spring. I'd suggest you enlist a teenage boy to help you find it. They don't mind the mud and only mildly complain about the cold- but love the adventure. This is a painting of a cold March day, as my son marveled at the somewhat dangerous but beautiful transition from winter's slumber to new life.

This is an oil painting of the Holy Night when Jesus Christ was born. He was born in a stable and laid in a manger because there was no room at the inn. A star appeared and led Shepherds and Wise men to the baby. It is the Christmas story.

Leidenschaftlich fotografiere ich seit ca. 8 Jahren. Mein Interesse dafür wurde mit der Digitalfotografie und den vielfältigen Möglichkeiten der Bildbearbeitung geweckt.
