Andy Smy

In the last decade Andy has left commercial shooting behind and moved into a more contemplative and personal style of photography with the transition to digital. 'Digital photography creates new opportunities to 'find moments' in post. The capacity for digital frames to be processed beyond the limitations of film and paper results in moments that hark back to the dawn of photography - where images appear out of the shadows, as if by magic. The smallest detail can seed a new direction in the development of the image. Digital photography reinvigorates the notion of a conversation between the artist and the artwork, giving us new tools to push with, and new responses to puzzle over. The results can surprise and enthrall, no less for the creator than for the viewer'
