Bob Nolin
Bob Nolin is an artist working in both traditional and digital media. Since 1996, the Seaside Art Gallery in Nags Head, NC, USA, has represented his original watercolor and mixed media works. Bob’s work has achieved national recognition, and has been published in magazines and books. His colored pencil piece “Ascension” was featured in American Artist magazine in conjunction with a major exhibition at the John Pence Gallery in San Francisco, CA. This piece also took top honors in the annual Colored Pencil Society of American juried exhibition in Seattle, WA.
Two other works were finalists in the Artist’s Magazine annual competition. These works were chosen from a field of 11,000 entries. Bob’s work has been accepted into numerous other juried shows.
In 2004, Bob began working full time as a digital painter, taking commissions from professional photographers located all over the US. These “photo paintings” are then printed on canvas or as giclees. Bob has over 70 photography studios in his client list, and he has executed hundreds of digital portrait commissions.
Bob’s focus lately has been paintings of animals. These images are very exciting and fulfilling for Bob, as they come from his lifelong love of nature, wildlife, and domestic animals. He also likes to give his imagination free reign in the form of fantasy images.
Bob feels it is important to give back to the community. He publishes a weekly blog, Digital Image Magazine, which includes the work of top digital artists, reviews of new books and software, and detailed tutorials in Photoshop and Painter. Bob has also published a book available as an ebook and on Amazon, “Getting Started with Painter.” He has also taught colored pencil classes in various venues in and around Pittsburgh, PA, USA, his hometown.
