Being a native of Southern California, I've spent a majority of my life at various beaches up and down the coast. It's where I feel most at home and although I've lived other places, I always end up back near the ocean. These works are the artistic manifestation of the sand on my feet, salt on my skin and wind in my hair, and I hope I can give a little of that back to anyone who buys something here.

About > Activities

This piece embodies the idea that we're never alone even in solitude. We may be the only person around, but infinite life exists all around us and far beyond our scope of sight.

You know you giggled the first time you saw someone wearing a Mr. Zogs Sex Wax t-shirt. Or maybe you snickered when you saw the tagline of "The Best for Your Stick". Back in the day, if you wanted to stay stuck to your surfboard while riding, there was only one option... a good, hard rubbing of Sex Wax up and down the shaft of your board.

All jokes aside, Sex Wax represents an original icon of the California beach culture, as relevant today as it ever was, whether you're a SoCal water baby, an East Coast grommet or a land-locked midwesterner looking to brighten the outlook of your home or office.

My first car was a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle. It was the ride that took me and all my friends to the beach, to concerts or the occasional ill-advised road trip for distances the "bugaroo" shouldn't have travelled. It spent more time on the side of the road than it did on it, whether from breaking down or being pulled over by the local police, guilty of driving while being young and stupid. The repairs nickel and dimed me to a point where I finally had to sell it for my own sanity, but no matter how much regret I have for that car, I still feel a deep sense of nostalgia for the car and have vowed that one day I will own another one... just in a lot better condition.

Back when I was in my twenties, living by the beach, the second most cherished vehicle in my stable aside from my boards was my beach cruiser. On a beach cruiser, everything is casual and nothing is rushed. Yeah, we'll get to the store, or the bar, or the beach eventually, but right now we're just enjoying the cruise. Get your hands on this little bit of bicycling nostalgia.

Come on now, who doesn't love bacon? Even those that won't eat it can appreciate it's awesomeness, and there's not many foods in the world that don't taste better with a little bacon added. So for the baconalia-ist amongst your family or friends, how about a little art for their walls that represents their passion for salty, tasty goodness.

I am a freelance illustrator and surface print designer.

My work is very stylised, with a strong focus on bold print and detailed illustration. Vivid colour and pattern is my ultimate passion.
I like creating work that brightens up a room, makes you smile, but I also enjoy confusing people in a way.

I often embed imagery, into my artwork, that contradicts what you expect to find in my vibrant celebratory print style.
I like to reflect the problems within society in my prints, often discretely, to reflect the underlying evils that exist in the world.
This slightly more sinister element gives my work more depth and really makes you think, what is going on in that picture?

My prints and illustrations are very much influenced by the work of Pop Artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. I admire the physical impact of their work. I am passionate about any designer that has a love for colour and print.

I can create any custom illustrations and prints, so if you have something in mind then please do drop me a line.

Any questions, I would love to hear from you.

For the true coffee aficionado, this tongue-in-cheek poster will enlighten any caffeine addicts home with levity sprinkled with a little truth behind it. Inspired by antique coffee posters, this design evokes a vintage feel with a modern flair. Buy one for yourself and maybe a few for your coffee loving friends.

Sometimes the first was the best, and in this artist's opinion, is the case with VANS shoes. The first time I remember ever wanting a specific pair of sneakers was 4th grade in Orange County, California and all my friends wore VanDoren sneakers, featuring the original alternative, two-tone, color combination, blue & gray. This piece is about being original and staying true to a classic, the first in a series of open edition, unsigned poster print designs.

If you've ever paddled out for a body surfing session, or watched the experts navigate the monster waves at The Wedge, you've probably seen or work a pair of Churchill Fins, the original, classic surf fin. Made to mimic the tail of whale, these fins were both great for propulsion, and easy to walk in than most surf fins.

This surfing inspired print is a manifestation of the idea, "once a surfer, always a surfer." I hadn't been in the water for several years, but no matter how long it's been, I always think about the next time I'll paddle out into the lineup.

"Surfing is for life" - Bruce Jenkins, author & surfer

When ever I see pictures of big waves, I always think of this quote from Bruce Lee. Of course his words were in regards to Kung Fu and Jeet Kun Do, but their wisdom transcends the world of martial arts and works perfectly with the idea of big wave surfing. If only Bruce had lived long enough so we could all know his wisdom. I'm doing my part to share.

"Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way round or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water."
- Bruce Lee

I spent the better part of my early life surfing up and down the coastline of Orange County. I'm partial to so many different beaches, I felt it was only fair to give plenty of them equal representation. This is the first Orange County piece in the "You Should Have Been Here" series, including some of the more notable spots between Laguna Beach and San Clemente. Not only are they great surf spots, but some of the most beautiful beaches in OC. If you've ever stood upon the bluff overlooking Laguna, you know exactly what I mean.

Despite being popularized mostly by Bart Simpson, this term, originating with surfers of the 60s, resonates with adrenaline junkies everywhere. Nothing says, "pure stoke" better than Kowabunga. I've broken it down here into phonetic syllables to guarantee correct pronunciation while you're pulling off your daredevil stunts, leaps of faith, riding the ultimate barrel or just having a good time cruising through life.

This is the second Orange County piece in the "You Should Have Been Here" series, including some of the more notable spots between Sunset Beach in the north down to Newport Beach in the central part of the county. Not only are they great surf spots, but some of the most beautiful beaches in OC. These beaches represent the central core of SoCal surf culture. The Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Dick Dale all got their mojo here.
