Simon Littlejohn

Originally from Chelsea, London, but now based in Sunny southern Spain. Widely travelled and always itching to go to new places and revisit old ones. Wildlife photography is my passion and occasionally pays bills. I spent 3 years in southern Chiles Torres del Paine national park where I went in search of elusive Patagonian Pumas, or Mountain Lions as they are known in North America. My goal is to publish a large format book about the this incredible region in Chilean Patagonia, which is full of awe inspiring scenery and abundant wildlife. Here in Andalucia, Spain, I am building a portfolio of images about the regions wildlife some of which can be found on this site, along with many from my work in Patagonia.

This very rare image is the 2nd of 3 I took of a totally wild Patagonian Puma feeding at night on the carcass of a Guanaco. It was taken in Chiles Torres del Paine National Park, where I spent 3 years in total trekking in search of this most elusive and sadly much persecuted cat.

A wild female Patagonian Puma keeping a watchful eye from a snow dusted ridge.

This Patagonian Puma was the first one I encountered during my first expedition to Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. It was getting late and a 15 hour trek that day had produced no sightings or images. On my way to camp at dusk I decided to walk beside the lake, I spotted this beautiful cat watching me from some rocks close to the shore. The sun was long behind the mountains so the light was not fantastic, but thats wildlife photography, you never know what your going to get, and when you will get it !!!

This totally wild Patagonian Puma cub is another of 3 siblings that I often encountered during my walks in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. Their mother would go hunting and often leave them resting or playing on a rocky ledge in a valley about an hours walk from my permanent base camp.
