The Crocodile is a large ferocious reptile found mainly in Africa and Australasia
Alligators, Caimans and Gharials are closely related and all species are related to extinct dinosaurs
The largest is the Estuarine/Saltwater Crocodile of Australasia, This species is the Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) and can grow to 6
3 meters (21 foot) long and 1000 kgs (2200 pounds) in weight
It is found throughout Africa, with the exceptions of the desert regions of the north and south and where they have been eradicated
Their habitats are large rivers, swamps, big waterholes and lakes
They will feed on anything available from fish to buffalo and are very dangerous to humans as they will ambush anything on the water's edge
