„Antibes Bird with Patterns and Textures“

from the gallery of Michael Whitaker
Description:

This is a 1995 photograph of a bird in a cage affixed to a shutter adjacent to an upper-floor window in Antibes, France. The bird is what initially caught my attention but it was the variety of geometric patterns and surface textures that caused me to trip the shutter. Of greatest fascination were the window curtains, interpreted by my imagination as reflecting camera film with perforations (used by the sprockets for moving film through the camera) with images of bird faces (two eyes above a beak staring straight ahead). If one examines closely, there is a bowl sitting on the window sill, apparently with food for birds living without cages. The round object below the window is a light.
