Beinwell (Symphytum), der Namen spricht für eine Heilpflanze. "Bein" steht dabei für Knochen und "Well" für "Wallen" steht für Zuheilen. Andere alte Namen für den Beinwell sind Wallwurz oder Beinwurz.
In Hohen Dosen schädigen die Giftstoffe des Beinwell allerdings die Leber.
