Das Dresdner Barockviertel stellt ein großes, fast gleichschenkliges Dreieck im Herzen der Inneren Neustadt dar. Die gedachten Schenkel des Dreiecks, welche strahlenförmig vom nordöstlich gelegenen Albertplatz abgehen, sind im Norden die Theresienstraße und im Südwesten die Hauptstraße. Die zentrale Achse des Viertels bildet dabei die barocke Königstraße.
