This is a view of the entrance to Frenchman Bay from a massive rock outcropping on the shore of Mount Desert Island, Maine. The bay was named for the French Explorer Samuel de Champlain who first sailed in and charted this area for France in early September of 1604. Mount Desert Island is the home of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
