Eos ist in der griechischen Mythologie die Göttin der Morgenröte. Die römische Entsprechung der Eos heißt Aurora, wonach das rot-grüne Polarlicht benannt ist. Die wunderschöne Göttin tauchte allmorgendlich mit ihrem Pferdegespann aus dem Okeanos auf.
