Der Poseidontempel in Sounion war eine Stätte, an der Seeleute für eine Reise die Gunst des Meergotts erbitten konnten. Errichtet wurde er gegen 440 v. Chr. während der Regierungszeit des Perikles, als auch der Parthenon in Athen erbaut wurde.
