„Quay Bridge Tewkesbury“

from the gallery of Ian Lewis
Description:

A boat on the Mill Avon River at Tewkwsbury, Gloucestershire passing under Quay Bridge. This is a cast iron and sandstone structure dating from 1822 and is now Grade 2 listed. The Mill Avon dates way back to the C12th when Benedictine monks from nearby Tewkesbury Abbey diverted the course of the River Avon to turn the wheel of its water mill. Following the direction the boat is heading, the Avon is navigable all the way to Shakespeare's Stratford where it joins the Stratford on Avon Canal
