Lia Termatzidou was born in Berlin in 1988. She studied Byzantine Iconography and has graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Art Sciences, specializing in Visual Arts. She divides her artistic expression between different mediums: Painting, photography, video and graphics. She participates in several group exhibitions and organizes artistic workshops in collaboration with other artists. Her subjects, mostly anthropocentric, explore the transforming power of the face - and by extension of individuality, and its association with social adaptability. She lives and works in Greece.

Bei meiner Arbeit als Fotokünstler setze ich mich intensiv mit brisanten Themen aus Gesellschaft und Umwelt auseinander. In meinen Werkreihen inszeniere ich diese Themen in neu- und einzigartigen Bildwelten, die mit starken Farben polarisieren, zur Reflexion anregen und einen Sichtwechsel bewirken wollen.

In my work as fine art photographer I earnestly address controversial issues bearing upon pressing social and environmental concerns. In my photo sequences I expose these topics in terms of novel and unique imagery and striking colors, with the aim of polarizing the viewer, stimulating deliberation and evincing a shift in perspective.

Angefangen hat alles mit Reisefotografie und dem Willen, das Unbekannte und Faszinierende - Menschen, Landschaften, Situationen - in Bildern zu bannen. Inzwischen mache ich auch viel People- und Fashionbilder sowie Natur und Urbex. Geblieben ist die Liebe zu Komposition und Perspektive sowie eher dezenten Farben.
