„Temple Island near Remenham “

from the gallery of Ian Lewis
Description:

Temple Island is a small island or eyeot standing in the River Thames between Buckinghamshire and Berkshire near the village of Remenham, Berkshire. It marks the start of the Henley Royal Regatta course. The 'temple' was designed by James Wyatt in 1771 as a fishing lodge for nearby Fawley Court. In the 1980s it was purchased by Henley Royal Regatta and has now been restored to its former glory and is now used for corporate events. The downstream area of the island is a nature reserve.
