This is the only known aircraft to have the record of shooting itself out of the air. In 1958 the f111 Tiger was able to reach speeds of Mach 1.1, and in 1956, a test pilot overtook his bullets in a diving maneuver, and shot himself down. This aircraft saw service from 1957 to 1969, but even though it had a great performance, only saw limited service. The Phantom II and the Crusader came out during this time, and took over the combat scene.

Shot at the Naval Air Museum, Pensacola, Florida. If you are arond there, this is a fantastic place to visit.
