A scene on the Kennet and Avon Canal just above the village of Woolhampton in Berkshire. The canal stretches over 87 miles linking the Thames at Reading with Bath and Bristol via two rivers, the Kennet and the Avon. Constructed in the late 18th and early 19th century it enabled goods to be transported between London and Bristol including Bath stone for buildings in the Capital. With the opening of the great Western Railway the canal fell into disuse until it was restored in the late 1900s.
