Über dieses Bild:
Portrait in chalk pastels, inspired by stories of solar goddesses and myths about the sun as source of life giving energy.
The Sun Maid is meant to be a fiery blaze of heath and color, embodied life and wisdom and light.
She is a particular tribute to Brighid, the Saint and the Celtic goddess of healing, Smith craft, and poetry, and Sunna- the sun as creative force in German mythology, but also to the Woman Dressed in Sun of the Bible ( that I personally interpreted as a figure of persistence in virtue and survival in goodness as she is described as being persecuted by a malignant dragon across a desert until she gives birth)
