Sula Chance

Sula was born in Trinidad in the West Indies of Indian decent. Her paintings show the life of the Caribbean, in representations of the colours, rhythms and warmth of the region’s culture and landscape. The subjects of her recent work include the seascapes of the Caribbean coast, the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest, and the exuberance of Carnival. Her aim is to achieve an immediate connection with the observer; she therefore paints in a naïve style as the best replication of the wonder of childhood’s first impressions of colours and shapes.

Welcome to my gallery, I hope you enjoy the view!

Here you can find fine art pieces of landscape and street photography and the occasional abstract and toy photography. With all my works, it is essential for me to see the scene fully, realizing the moment and seeing it not only with your eye but in your mind.

Applying this process right there and then while taking the picture, using the sum of your experience and your imagination makes the difference for me, stylizing reality to achieve, in short, mimesis.

Getting that difference right is the challenge that drives me and I constantly work on getting there, ever trying to perfect my vision of the world as I see it.

I hope some of that passion transports to you, the viewer, through my work.
