The American bison, also commonly known as the American buffalo, is a North American species of wooly bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in massive herds. It was hunted by "buffalo" hunters in the 1800s and nearly became extinct. However, bison have made a recent resurgence largely restricted to a few national parks and reserves. Worthy of celebration in art. This is a wonderfully whimsical expression of a bison with a southwestern flare.
