The undeniable highpoint - literally and figuratively - of the Annapurna Circuit is the high pass of Thorung La, which reaches the dizzy heights of 5416 metres above sea level. To reach the base camp at Thorung Phedi, where you will rest for the night before attempting the pass, you must traverse huge slopes of shale by way of a narrow path. Landslides are common in this area, as the sign attests!
